Huge Water Geysers On Enceladus

Saturn’s moon, Enceladus, has icy water jets. The geyser plumes on Enceladus are 8,000 times larger than those on Earth. It’s got everything we were hoping to find to find alien life. That’s why it is one of the best places to find alien life.

Uranus is all over the place. It spins weirdly, its magnetic field is off-center, and now we’ve just found out it may open and shut its magnetosphere every day, too.  The research by Xin Cao and Carol Paty from the Georgia Institute of Technology was published in the  Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics .  Modeling the system around Uranus, they found that its magnetosphere occasionally opens up to allow solar wind through. This seemed to happen almost every day, about every 17 Earth hours. This opening and closing happens around Earth, and it’s called  magnetic reconnection  – where the magnetic field lines of our magnetosphere and the solar wind align. This produces aurorae at its poles, and it’s likely doing the same at Uranus. But at Earth, this process is fairly irregular. A 6-year-old tells NASA to make Pluto a planet again: ‘You need to fix this problem for me’

A 6 year old girl, Cara Lucy O'Connor, has a concern. Pluto was one of the nine planets in the solar system, and since 2006 it isn't anymore. That’s not working with a little 6 year old girl. That’s not right says the little girl from Ireland. So Cara, with the assistance of her teacher, sent a letter to NASA wanting to convince the space agency to “make Pluto a planet again.” Cara wrote in the letter “I listened to a song and at the end of it the song said “Bring Pluto Back” — and I would really like that to happen,” She went on to clarify that in 2006, Pluto was demoted to the status of a dwarf planet, “a type of planet that isn't big enough to clear its orbit.” She spoke about the Kuiper belt, a doughnut-shaped ring beyond Neptune where many dwarf planets are situated. Astronomers Have Witnessed The Birth Of A Black Hole For The First Time Ever

In a galaxy 22 million light-years distant, a black hole was born. For the first time in recorded history, humans were watching the astronomical phenomenon, reports a team from NASA, Ohio State, and Caltech. The “Fireworks Galaxy” is known for its frequent supernovae. But starting in 2009, one of its stars named N6946-BH1 brightened just a bit – but then had disappeared from the most advanced telescopes by 2015. The team used the Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes, the Large Binocular Telescope, and a variety of other methods to try and get a glimpse of the vanished star, as they describe in the  Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society . But there wasn’t even any infrared radiation that marked the spot where the star had been, proving it wasn’t hidden behind a dust cloud or blocked by another object out in space, they said.
